Strain Gages for PCB Stress Test
Time:2015.12.03 Click:Introduction
Strain gauge for PCB stress test could be applied to analysis the PCB mechanic performance of computer, instrumentation, digital products, home appliances, control devices, aerospace electronic products, etc. This application is designed to prevent the possibility of failures (such as BGA chip installation monitoring, PCB installation stress analysis, mechanical vibration monitoring, solder joints monitoring, etc.). It meets the requirement of IPC/JEDEC-9704 standard. “Printed circuit board test guide”.
◆ Three direction, right angle fan-shaped arrangement
◆ Small sensitive grid size 1.0mm2 to 2.0mm2
◆ All solder tabs stay on the same side of the strain gauge
◆ Coefficient of linear expansion: 0.000013/℃
This series of strain gauges adopts special wiring method.
Enameled wire connects strain gauge tabs first, and then connects PVC flat cable. Two-wire and three-wire system are provided.
Front-end lead is soft and slender, it’ easy to arrange and fix lead wire.
Back-end PVC flat cable is color distinguished.

Regarding to the installation site on PCB for this strain gage, it should be on all four corners of the selected components. As shown below, the center of the sensitive grid (not the center of the strain gauge) should be in the cross-line from 3.56mm ± 0.25mm (0.14in ± 0.01in) of the packaging edge.
Pasting and testing can be in accordance with the general strain gauge installation methods. Tapes can be used to fix the lead wires after pasting.
